Exams are over so definitely time for a treat. I was trying to think of something valentines day-ish that wasn’t covered in pink and red hearts and little sparkles and this is what i came up with. It’s got the word passion in it therefore I have concluded it must be totally romantic right? Mostly though these are sharable with friends, family and any other people who lurrve cake on valentines day or otherwise.
I decided to go a bit more special with the buttercream than I might usually and opted to try out a swiss buttercream using this recipe from the Woodland Bakery. It is such a good recipe and so light and fluffy, it almost has the texture of squirty cream that you get out of a can but with a yummy buttery taste. Since it is so super-light it goes great with the cupcakes which are a brownie-cupcake hybrid, very soft and deeply chocolaty.
Warning: do not follow with a supersweet starbucks cinnamon syrup latte, I’m on a serious sugar rush here
